never a dull moment...

I was concentrating on paperwork at my desk while my students were working quietly. One of them walked over to me looking like this...obviously he got a little distracted...or maybe he was bored :) I ♥ my job.

I don't know if it was the weather, or the time of year, or maybe that it was just a Friday... but it just seems kind of crazy!

You know, I always find in interesting how much parents rely on teacher for parenting advice. Here I am, 21, never been married or had kids...but I give parenting advice ALL the time! Which is actually okay...and I understand it because we do have a background in working with kids and lots of experience...but it still sometimes makes me giggle. J

Oh, and just FYI: If you are ever mad or upset with your child, the best move is NOT to tell your child you don't want them anymore, call DSHS, and try and put them up for adoption. It makes for a rough day at school. And a rough day for the teacher. Just FYI.

But kids honestly say the funniest things...and this week was no exception...

After talking about the current earthquakes around the world, I was assured by one of my students that if there was one here, they would walk over to my house to make sure I was okay and then we would eat pancakes together. Sounds like a good plan to me.

One of my students today... "Ms Highfield aren't you proud of us? We finished a whole book! Normally we just talk.... " Oh so proud. :)

While grading my math tests I discovered the brilliant explanation one of my student gave to the question "Is 25 a multiple of 4? Explain your reasoning." His answer?... “No, it is not because it just isn't.” Like I said...he is brilliant. ♥

And then there are the sweet moments that make my eyes well up with teacher...After taking a half-day on Monday, one of my students came up with tears in his eyes, throws his arms around me and says, "Ms. Highfield...I missed you ." Totally melts my heart.

But now it’s the weekend…and I couldn’t be more excited! Oh, and I have a {date!} on Saturday… excited and nervous all at the same time!
